CBSE confirms cancelling the 10th Board Exam and postponing the 12 board exams.
The recent upsurge in the Covid-19 cases has prompted the Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) to cancel the 10th exam and postpone the 12th Board exam 2021. This year, over 21.5 lakh candidates have applied for the 10th board exams and over 14 lakh students have registered for the 12th board exams.
The message from the Central is to cancel the 10th Board exams. To grade the students, the education ministry has advised the schools to assess the students on their internal assessments and practical marks. However, if a student is unhappy with the marks allotted, he/she can later reschedule their exams and appear for the same. The dates for these special exams are not yet announced.
As for the 12th board exams, the exams will be conducted as per the conductivity of the situation. The date sheets are to be reviewed again in June at least 15 days before the exams.
This announcement from CBSE has come after much debate and discussions with the Prime Minister himself and has been welcoming news for the students. But most importantly, this decision by CBSE has impacted the other boards as they are considering now postponing their exams too. One of the leading examples of it being The Maharashtra Board (MSBSHSE). The same has been demanded by the UP state govt. whereas Rajasthan has already postponed their class XII board exam.
There has been certainly mixed reaction regarding this news among some of the parents and students who opine that such indecisiveness for the exam dates is piling up the pressure on the students. The Union Minister of Education has considered many alternatives like online exams before coming to a conclusion of postponing the exams.
