Student Visa Process For Studying MBBS in the Philippines: List of documents and other requirements
Candidates who wish to pursue MBBS in Philippines are required to acquire a student visa before moving to the country and starting with their education program. Currently, the valid student visa that is acquired to study MBBS in Philippines is (9f). Only for such students the university or college shall accept accreditation by the Bureau of Immigration (BI). After the enrollment students can now apply for relevant visas. There are several procedures for studying MBBS in the Philippines.
International students are permitted to study MBBS in Philippines only if they have a valid visa that is granted by the Philippine Embassy located in India. It is very much recommended for the students to get their visas in their respective countries to make the process hassle-free. It is not recommended for students to enter the Philippines without having a student visa or any other tourist visa.
Student Visa Process For Studying MBBS in the Philippines: List of documents and other requirements
- A Formal Letter that is typewritten and signed by the student which is addressed to the Honorary consul General, Republic of the Philippines, SPIC House, 88, Mount Road, Guindy, Chennai, and stating the destination of school or university, it must also contain specific purposes regarding pursuing the degree. It should also contain a state course or any program, the duration of the program, or the expected stay in the Philippines. Also, request the issuance of an appropriate visa.
- Visa Application Form that is duly accomplished, with clear passport size photograph of the applicant that is clicked with white background. Always remember, that any scanned photo or incompletely filled application will not be accepted and there are high chances of rejection. Thereby the validity of the passport must be at least six months beyond the stay in the Philippines
- The original along with the Photocopy of the letter of acceptance from the university which is addressed to the students must be printed on the university’s letterhead and must bear the university dry seal and signature of the authorized representative of the university. The letter must mention the complete name of the student, details of the student's passport, and the respective degree program that the student has accepted, inclusive of all the semesters and the number of years taken to complete the program.
- The letter must be accompanied by the university schedule of fees structure that is to be paid by the students which are simplified in a matrix, the entire program that the student has accepted including the fees involved in the conversion of their 9(a) into 9(f).
- The proof for payment of tuition fees for the first semester ( original receipt from the university, or wire transfer to the name and account of the accepting institution)
- If any student is pursuing MBBS or Dentistry, there is a requirement for an original and photocopy of the certificate of eligibility for admission from CHED ( Commission on Higher Education), authenticated by the Department of Foreign Affairs in Manila.
- Original and Photocopy of the letter of support and consent of the parents, apostille by MEA, must be duly notarized and apostilled by India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), with proof of financial capacity to travel, payment of Tuition fees, and other expenses ( For Eg: Bank statement of 3 months that is bearing the seal of issuing bank and signature of authorized representative, that includes the proof of income/ employment of parents with signature ID proof. There must be a financial affidavit/NOC and bank statement that is attested separately.
- Original and Photocopies of transcript records (i.e. SSLC and HSC) apostille by MEA, Police Clearance Certificate, Latest Medical Report with chest X-ray and Hepatitis B ( NABH Approved Hospitals, please refer to the website: http://www.nabh.co/cbhs list.aspx), Original and Photocopy of NEET exam pass certificate, apostille by MEA and other documents mentioned during the letter of acceptance.
- If the student is a minor, that is below the age of 18 years, an Affidavit of support and consent to travel is required. The affidavit must be executed by both the parents indicating the traveling companion of the minor along with the proof of address in India, it must be duly notarized by any of the local notary public, apostille by MEA. Remember, the affidavit must be presented before the immigration officials during the entry into the Philippines.
- In the current period, fully vaccinated proof of vaccination is very much mandatory. It must be apostilled by MEA. ( Copy of Aadhar Card is required if Aadhar number is provided).
- Students must appear personally at the consular section of the Philippine Consulate for the process of the Interview. The timings of the appointment shall be scheduled.
- For the return Air ticket, the ticket shall remain valid until or even after the completion of the program that is taken by the students
- Travel Insurance for Covid-19 treatment costs from reputable insurance providers, there must be minimum coverage of USD 35,000.00 for the overall duration of the student's stay in the Philippines and its photocopies.
Note:
- Candidate must have scored 50% minimum in PCB subjects
- The application shall be rejected by the Consular Section of the Philippine Honorary if the application filed is on behalf of the students by any agencies or proxies.
- PHCG also requires additional documents if it seems to be necessary, for ascertaining the authenticity and veracity of the documents provided to the Embassy.
- Students must come attired appropriately when they appear at the consulate. Mobile phones are not allowed in the consulate.
Student Visa Process For Studying MBBS in the Philippines: Rules and Regulations
Foreign students applying for a student visa in the Philippines must abide by the rules and regulations instructed by the country. Here are some of the rules and regulations of the country:
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply for the student visa.
- Students must have an offer letter to study at a higher education institution
- Students must have been approved by the Commissioner of Immigration
- Students must follow with University’s requirements
- An institution in which the student enrolls must send the application to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for any approval
- Once the application gets approved by CHED. The application is then endorsed by the CHED to the Bureau of Immigration, BID, and then it is forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA)
- The final process is cleared by DFA which informs the Philippines Embassy located in India for the issuance of student visas.
- The notification regarding the approval of student visas is sent to the students through the Philippines Embassy.
